This is my old station setup. It consisted of a La Crosse Technology 3610 and a Boltek PCI lightning detector. I now have a Davis Vantage Pro 2, and will try to find some time soon to update this page.
As you can see the outside units are mounted from the fascia of the house. Originally the anemometer was placed on top of the first section of pipe. I found that the wind was still being affected by the roof line, so I increased the total height of it to approximately 8 metres off the ground and 2 above the roof line.
The black piece of insulation tape is to overcome a problem of light deflecting onto the sensors which caused the unit to report a NE-NW wind all the time.
The temperature gauge is located under our front room. From what I can tell, it does not get any direct sunlight, although, in this location it is not subject to westerly winds. I have yet to be able to find a better location for it.
Data is collected and stored on a 1.7mhz Celeron with 512 meg ram. This machine also acts as my web server. It had a heart replacement not long ago.
